Decent hotel, terrible neighborhood

The hotel front desk staff were nice. Very young & a little unsure of hotel info but friendly. They had a private happy hour going on in the lobby, which is a nice atmosphere. The hotel is very old, so it smells old.l in the common areas. The room itself was an adorable studio apt vibe with exposed brick & ceiling features. Super cute. Shower a little awkward, because the only way to turn it on, is to get drenched. The towels felt like sand paper. They were so stiff and folded like they had been starched. Not pleasant at all. The room felt clean. We were located near the elevators so it was extremely noisy. We were a mother/adult daughter duo traveling and did not feel safe in the surrounding area. Parking is limited so that can be very scary if u arrive after dark. We did not feel safe outside of our room and we travel a lot. Will not stay here again.

I usually like staying at this hotel but this time I got a room where the bathroom shower was worn down and old. The bed linens and towels need to be replaced. Some towels were stained. I did like the space the room provided. I also liked the breakfast. I guess the rooms are hit and miss.

This is probably the nicest Dallas hotel. The staff were wonderful, the decor is beautiful and there is so much attention to detail. The rooftop pool area is sublime and felt very special. We even went downstairs for a dance one night! I would recommend the Swexan to anybody travelling to Dallas, as a family or a romantic getaway.

It was ok nothing special about it. It was hard to find because it is behind 2 other hotels and GPS said to turn.. but the driveway is hard to see and is 20 feet from a street corner that I turned on 3 times before finally seeing it.
